Our Smoke House
Singelton’s General Store is known by both locals and out-of-state visitors for it’s hand-cut Vermont Smoked Meats. Our in-house cold smoke process creates a unique flavor that will satisfy your taste buds and entice you to come back for more. Unlike many other companies which use liquid smoke to add flavor to their products, our products are smoked for two days in an old cast iron pot, with a few briquettes of charcoal and buckets of dried corncobs in our old-fashioned Vermont Smokehouse. On average we smoke about 150 lbs. of pepperoni a week, along with 300 lbs of bacon.
Our smoked line of products includes:
Slab Bacon – Our country-style smoked bacon is thick cut daily. It is a great addition to your morning breakfast, crumbled on top of a salad or in a twice-baked potato. Craving a BLT? You haven’t tasted a BLT until you’ve used Singleton’s Smoked Bacon.
Boneless Hams – Our maple syrup-cured boneless deluxe hams make the perfect Christmas or Easter ham. As well as the whole or half hams, we slice thick boneless ham steaks which are great for pan-frying or on the grill. Need ham cubes for split pea soup or a ham salad? Guests will be begging for more when you serve them Singleton’s ham entrees.
Smoked Bone-in Pork Chops – These center cut pork loins have been through a curing process and spend two days in our smokehouse. For a great dinner, try pan frying them on both sides to brown them, and then toss them in a shallow baking dish with applesauce smothered on top. Bake for 20 minutes and enjoy!
Smoked Pepperoni – A smoky flavor with a bit of spice makes our pepperoni great for serving with cheese and crackers or on top of a homemade pizza. The savory pepperoni can be bought either by the stick or sliced and is the perfect snack for a hunting trip or day hike.
Smoked Salmon – Our Smoked Atlantic Salmon is cured in-house and cold smoked for two days. It can be used to make great hors d’oeuvres; sliced thinly and placed on a cracker with red onion and capers.
Canadian Bacon – Kick start your morning breakfast with our corncob-smoked Canadian bacon. Sliced and vacuum packed to preserve freshness, it make a great addition to a breakfast sandwich or eggs benedict.
Smoked Ham Hocks – Kick your split pea or ham bone soups up a notch with Singleton’s smoked ham hocks.
Smoke Beef Marrow Bones – Our smokehouse wouldn’t be complete without offering man’s best friend a smoky treat. Your dog will beg you to stop by our store to pick up our smoked marrowbones. Our marrowbones also make great beef soup stocks with a slight hint of our corncob-smoked flavor.
Singleton’s Beef Jerky – We create two different kinds of beef jerky using hand-trimmed and sliced bottom round. The meat is marinated in teriyaki sauce or our new maple garlic teriyaki. You will get addicted!
At Singletons we offer Certified Angus Beef, a top quality beef that is a cut above USDA Prime or Choice. Singleton’s offers hand cut steaks, various pork, beef, lamb and chicken marinades, specialty beef burgers and gourmet items such as stuffed chicken breast or pork chop, pinwheels and countless others. Singleton’s store-made sausages are one of our hottest items offered in the meat department. Our family has been making sausages for 30+ years, originally offering six traditional flavors such as country sage breakfast sausage, hot & sweet Italian sausage and kielbasa. In the last 10 years we’ve added nine new flavors to the selection. We are constantly mixing ingredients and trying new recipes to add to the expanding sausage line. All of the sausages are hand-made and linked using the best spices available.
We currently offer the following store-made sausages:
Country Sage Breakfast – Our sage based, pork breakfast sausage is perfect for breakfast patties and is a great addition to stuffing.
Maple & Smoked Bacon Breakfast – Our sage based, pork breakfast sausage includes Vermont maple syrup and Singleton’s Smoked Bacon.
Kielbasa – Our hand-made kielbasa includes pork, garlic, onions, fennel seed, pepper, salt, brown sugar, sage and ginger and is made from a several year-old recipe. It is a great addition to Easter dinner and goes well with peppers, onions and Vermont Fox Mustard.
Hot Italian – One of our original sausages, it is made in links and in bulk for use in spaghetti sauces or chili. It includes pork, fennel seed, crushed red pepper, black pepper, paprika, salt, and spices and is perfect for sausage grinders.
Sweet Italian – Another of our original sausage flavors, it is made in links or in bulk. It is a mild Italian sausage great for sausage grinders or used to spice up your favorite sauces. Ingredients include pork, salt, fennel seed, pepper and spices.
Sicilian – This is the only sausage on the menu that contains beef. The Sicilian, is a mixture of pork, beef, cheese, white wine, crushed red pepper, fennel seed, black pepper, and spices.
English Bangers – Our English Bangers can be described as pork sausage on a milder note, similar to that of the country breakfast sausage. English Bangers are a great addition to any breakfast and include pork, sage, ginger, white pepper and spices. They are a classic for bangers and mash!
Granny Bangers – Our spin on English Bangers, it is a combination of the original bangers, granny smith apples, and almonds. Ingredients include, pork, sage, ginger, white pepper, granny smith apples, almonds and spices. Granny Bangers make a great breakfast sausage.
Chorizo – The Chorizo is our Mexican-style sausage that includes pork, crushed red pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt and spices. The addition of vinegar gives this sausage a tangy bite and great flavor.
Polish – A classic version of polish sausage, this sausage has a great peppery taste. Ingredients include, pork, salt, coarse ground black pepper and spices. Grab a bun and add Vermont Volcano Mustard and peppers and onions to create a delicious grinder.
Roasted Chipotle – Our Roasted Chipotle is a mildly spicy sausage with a smokey flavor. It makes a great addition to chili or your favorite Italian sauce. Ingredients include pork, salt, paprika, onion powder, chipotle pepper, and spices.
Garlic & Cheese – Another one of our top selling sausages, the Garlic & Cheese offers a bit of variety for those who want something a different than a normal Italian sausage. Ground pork, with the addition of salt, garlic powder, black pepper, parmesan cheese and spices make this a crowd pleasing favorite.
Pesto – Similar to the garlic and cheese sausage, our pesto sausage is a combination of ground pork with dried basil, parmesan cheese, salt and a blend of spices.
Sundried Tomato & Basil – This is one of our newest flavors. It is a combination of ground pork with sundried tomatoes, dried basil, black pepper, salt, oregano and spices.
Pepper & Onion – This is a twist on the classic pepper and onion sausage grinder. It is made of ground pork, with a blend of Italian spices and add peppers and onions. With our pepper & onion sausage we take the work out of making a pepper & onion sausage grinder.
We also have a great Deli that offers a variety of salads and sandwich made to order. Singleton’s offers over 20 Signature Sandwiches or you can make your own.
